Fire doors available to everyone

Fire doors cannot prevent fire. The main purpose of fire doors is to localize the place of fire, that is, prevent the fire from spreading to other rooms.

They are classified in accordance with how long they are able to withstand the temperature of less than 180 degrees on the side unimportant to the fire. This time is measured in minutes from the beginning of the exposure of the fire on the door until any of the marginal states (violation of the structure, loss of integrity and heat-insulating qualities).

The limit of fire resistance of the door is indicated by the Latin letter corresponding to one of the marginal states, and numbers showing the time in minutes before this limit state.

Thus, in order to understand what the expression of the fire doors EI 60 means, you need to familiarize yourself with the list of maximum states of the doors in fire resistance and the corresponding Latin letters:

R – loss of the bearing capacity of the structure due to the collapse or occurrence of marginal deformations;

E is the loss of integrity due to the formation of through cracks in the door, through which the flame and combustion products begin to penetrate the surface unreasoned towards the fire;

I – loss of heat -insulating ability due to heating the side uninitiated to the fire to maximum values.

So, if the door has fire resistance EI 60, this means that it can withstand the impact of flame within 60 minutes, without heating to the ultimate values and without losing its integrity. That is, for an hour, fire will not be able to break through such a door.

Such doors are installed in office and storage facilities, factory premises. There are fire -fighting doors that can withstand the fire with fire, but usually they are installed in special cases in special buildings. The design of the EI 60 doors is two sheets of galvanized steel with a minimum thickness of 0.8 mm, between which there is a layer of mineral wool. In other cases, a complex thermal package is used to protect against fire. The thickness of the door leaf reaches 63 mm. Fire doors are produced without threshold.

Fire -based doors are a reliable way to protect residential and office premises from fire and minimize negative consequences in the event of a fire.
