What to do if you want part of the wall to be decorated with “naked” brickwork? If the house is made of brick, then you just need to leave part of the wall unheated, carefully clean and cover with colorless varnish. On such “naked” walls, you can hang reproductions of famous paintings in frames from a wide baguette, or photographs within.
But residents of houses from other building materials should not despair, since imitation of brick can be done completely with the help of gypsum, casting forms, paint of the desired color and transparent varnish.
How to imitate brick or gypsum bricks!
As a form for casting, it can take a plastic box with straight vertical walls and a smooth bottom. The size of the “bricks” depends on the idea, the main thing is that they are rectangular. It is recommended to make bricks 0.5-3 cm thick. On the walls of the form, the dimensions of the brick are noted, the lines are drawn along which the shape is cut off.
The walls and bottom of the shape are greased with a soft brush moistened in a solution of soap or petroleum jelly, after which you can proceed to cooking gypsum. The gypsum mixture is soaked in a small bank or bowl, and it is recommended to prepare a new mixture for each brick, which should resemble sour cream by consistency, but not thicker. The just diluted gypsum is immediately poured into the shape to the edges, the surface is leveled with a spatula or a stiff with a flat plate. To get rid of air bubbles, you need to slightly tap your fingers along the bottom and the walls of the shape. Gypsum freezes for 10-20 minutes, after which you need to turn the shape and use neat tappings remove the finished brick. After this, the form needs to be washed, dried and repeated, until the right number of bricks is ready. The resulting bricks are covered with several layers of guaishi, and after drying the paint – a thin layer of varnish.
When the bricks are ready, you can start installing them. To do this, a horizontal line is drawn on the selected wall, along which bricks fixed on the wall will be laid using glue for laying tiles. You can make the “torn” edges, breaking away several extreme bricks, you can change the width of the seams.
Instead of homemade bricks, you can always use brick panels or brick tiles.
